Description/Duties

Cars.com is a leader in the automotive online marketing space and growing! We are looking for someone who would fill the role of Technical Project Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Driving the execution & coordination of projects across the production, development, and QA teams.
  • Responsible for maintaining project schedules and timelines to meet development milestones.
  • Manage day-to-day tasks and have in-depth involvement to allow for early identification of potential challenges.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Work with management to identify recurring team/process bottle-necks and help to resolve them.

Location of Santa Monica Office (Google Maps)

Core Qualifications

  • Must have 2+ years of software development project management experience preferably in web-based applications.
  • Must be familiar with development life cycle for managing scope and release objectives.
  • Must have a clear understanding of how the following work together to create a web page: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, database, php, templates, server, and browser.
  • Must understand how/why web applications are layered.
  • Must have experience working for a high production consumer web site as a project manager.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience having used a project management tool or package such as MS Project.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented when managing issues.
  • Ability to raise issues and seek support for resolution.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior successful project management experience, preferably using the PMI methodology; 5+ projects

Pluses

  • Prior experience working for a lead generation consumer web site.
  • PMP certification.
  • Understanding of search engine marketing concepts.
  • Web programming experience.
