2010 Jeep Wrangler Overview
The combination of fully open-top driving and the best off-road capabilities on the planet make the 2010 Jeep Wrangler truly unique ride. Under that iconic hood that has looked about the same for the better part of a century is a 202-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6, which is mated to a four-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. This pairing is good for 16 mpg in the city and 19 on the highway. Mileage is comparable the Nissan Xterra and Toyota FJ Cruiser. Three models are available to Wrangler buyers: Sport, Rubicon and Sahara. With all the open space on the upper half of the Wrangler, it is hard to fully separate the inside from the outside. Headroom is infinite with the easy-to-remove Sunrider® top off, and so is shoulder room with the windows down. Think the Nissan Xterra and Toyota FJ Cruiser can compete with that? The four-wheel drive system on the Sport and Sahara models features a low-high transfer case, Dana front and rear solid axles and an available limited slip rear differential. On the Rubicon, named for the famed off-road Rubicon trail (where you about exclusively find Jeep Wranglers) there are electric front- and rear-axle lockers and an electronic sway bar disconnect feature, and the limited slip rear differential is standard. Fog lamps and tow hooks are standard, while tube-style running boards are available. Fun goodies such as a CD player, an upgrade Infinity audio system and Sirius Satellite Radio can be added for your cruising pleasure. New two-tone leather is available on the Sahara and Rubicon models. The available Uconnect system enhances the Wrangler’s technology offerings with a hard drive to store and play music on, as well as connecting your phone (now included with Uconnect navigation) and wireless electronics for Wi-Fi internet surfing. Safety is also a challenge the 2010 Jeep Wrangler tackles with aplomb, thanks to dual front and optional front-side airbags. In government testing, the Wrangler achieves Five-Star front impact ratings. Four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control and stability control help ensure the Wrangler only ends up off road when the driver directs it there. For serious off-road fun, there is really only one choice. With luxury features like Uconnect, and modern safety features including airbags and antilock brakes, the 2010 Jeep Wrangler is more fun and safe than ever.
