2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overview
The ultimate in utility and off-road ruggedness, the 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited knows no boundary.
When it comes to hitting the dirt road, few vehicles if any try to measure up to the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Nissan Xterra, FJ Cruiser and the Hummer H2, H3 and H3T try, but don’t stack up. The difference between the Wrangler and the Wrangler Unlimited are two rear passenger doors.
The Wrangler Unlimited comes in three trims – Rubicon, Sahara and base with available S Package. All three have a 3.8-liter, 202-horsepower V-6, 6-speed manual transmission and receive 15 MPG city and 19 MPG highway. The base and Sahara trims come with a Command-Trac Shift-on-the-Fly 4WD System that lets you go from 2WD to 4WD without having to stop.
Choose between 16, 17 and 18-inch wheels. All trims come with an AM/FM stereo with in-dash CD player and MP3 capability. The base trim has six speakers, while the Sahara and Rubicon have seven speakers and feature the Uconnect system, which handles everything from music, GPS, phone/Bluetooth, satellite radio and internet connectivity.
All models have four removable doors and a fold-down windshield connecting you to the road and your surroundings. The Sunrider® soft top allows you to enjoy the sunshine or take cover if necessary. The Freedom Top three-piece modular hardtop includes a rear wiper, full-metal doors and deep-tinted glass. All three trims have best-in-class water fording capability for crossing bodies of water, best-in-class ground clearance, approach and departure angles and the most traction of any Wrangler ever.
The Rubicon features an Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect that with a flip of a switch, disengages its trick electronic front sway bar allowing the wheels to drop and compress 25 percent further than previous generation Wranglers. Add BF Goodrich Mud Tires, Dana 44 heavy-duty front and rear axels, Tru-Lok locking differentials and Rock-Trac 4WD system and you will be able to go anywhere and do anything.
Front and side airbags provide head and thorax protection and a Five-Star frontal-impact rating are what you would expect from a Jeep. Add antilock brakes and an Electronic Stability Program and you have increased your chances of staying safe.
If you love the outdoors and will boldly go wherever adventure takes you, then sit down and strap in because the 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will take you there.
