2011 Jeep Patriot Overview
For those serious about off-roading, who want a vehicle that can handle rugged terrain, the 2011 Jeep Patriot is for you.
The 2011 Jeep Patriot rests on the same car-based platform as the Compass and Dodge Caliber, but has a few touches that make it a more worthy off-road vehicle than those two. The Patriot comes with your choice of two engines and two trim levels (Sport and Latitude). A Trail-Rated four-wheel drive system is also available, and for 2011 the Patriot features a revised interior/exterior. Under the hood, a 158-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-four or a 172-horsepower, 2.4-liter inline-four powers the Patriot. Both can be paired to either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission. With three drivelines that are geared specifically for off-road usage, the 2011 Patriot is excitement on wheels. Front-wheel drive is standard, while Freedom Drive I four-wheel drive with lock mode and the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package, with a Trail-Rated four-wheel-drive system are optional. The Freedom Drive II drivetrain incorporates a low range CVT perfect for off-road driving.
For being such an off-road warrior, the 2011 Jeep Patriot still features impressive fuel economy ratings of 21-23 mpg in the city and 26-29 mpg on the highway. Those ratings stack up well against the Ford Escape, Subaru Forester, and Honda CR-V. The Patriot has a more rigid hood and box-like exterior compared to other Jeeps, even with a new rear and front bumper. Side roof rails and 16-inch steel wheels are standard, while power heated side mirrors, 17-inch aluminum rims, and a sunroof are optional. The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package also includes 17-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks, a spare tire, and a 9.5-inch maximum ground clearance.
The 2011 Jeep Patriot seats five in two rows of seats, or for those who need the space for their stuff, there is 62.7 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats folded flat. A new steering wheel, padded upper front-door trim, center armrest, and climate controls enhance your driving experience. An optional Garmin-based navigation system, touch-screen audio system with 28 GB hard drive, and Boston Acoustics audio system with speakers that swing down from the liftgate add to the Patriot’s appeal.
An electronic stability control system with electronic roll mitigation, antilock brakes, traction control, side curtain airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system all come standard in the 2011 Jeep Patriot, while side-impact airbags for the front seats are optional.
Be ready to tackle rough terrain or the smooth pavement in the 2011 Jeep Patriot.
