2009 Jeep Patriot Overview
With best-in-class fuel economy and a new navigation system, the 2009 Jeep Patriot is both efficient and innovative while carrying the essential spirit of Jeep ruggedness. The Patriot is available in two trim levels – the efficient Sport and the upscale Limited. The base 2.0-liter, 158-horsepower 4-cylinder has plenty of smooth, quiet power with excellent fuel economy. The available 2.4-liter, 172-horsepower 4-cylinder provides ample passing power and quieter highway cruising. The smooth-shifting five-speed manual transmission delivers positive shift action, while a choice of Continuously Variable Transmissions offer seamless gear shifts and adequate low range power for off-road situations. The Patriot receives 20-23 mpg in the city and 22-28 mpg on the highway and competes with the Ford Escape and Kia Sportage. On the inside, a redesigned instrument panel, door trim panels and center console highlight changes for 2009. Interior seating options include standard 60/40 split folding rear seats, allowing multiple load configurations and a maximum 62.7 cubic feet with the front passenger and rear seats folded. Available leather-trimmed heated front seats providing warmth on cold days and relief for sore muscles. The available 458-watt Premium Sound System has fold-down liftgate speakers to share your music loud and clear. The Patriot boasts the incredibly versatile UConnect® system that can fulfill your digital dreams through a 6.5-inch touch screen. Turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect laptops, phones, PSPs, PDAs and play online games, surf the internet and download music. The 30 GB hard drive lets you upload and store up to 6,700 songs, tons of photos and play your iPod/MP3 player through the sound system. Include SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity and you’ve just turned your car into the ultimate entertainment center. Helping to achieve its 5-star side-impact crash test rating are the standard dual front airbags, available front seat-mounted side airbags, and side-curtain airbags with roll-sensing technology for optimal front and rear passenger protection. Standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes with Brake Assist and Traction Control help to reduce stopping distances and improve steering control. Handling capabilities are enhanced with an advanced electronic stability control system with all-speed traction control, brake assist, and Electronic Roll Mitigation. These systems work together by applying selective wheel braking and engine throttle control to help maintain directional stability. Spacious, fuel-efficient, and unabashedly rugged, the 2009 Jeep Patriot is small in stature, but offers big-time flexibility and a wealth of useful features.
