2008 Jeep Liberty Overview
The all-new 2008 Jeep Liberty features a classic, chiseled grille, a more rugged exterior design, and new off-road technologies. The Liberty is available in two trim levels – the well-equipped Sport and the loaded Limited. The 3.7 liter V6 engine churns out 210 horsepower, which supplies good acceleration when paired with the standard six-speed manual transmission. With the available smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission, the Liberty has a maximum 5,000 pound towing capacity. Standard two-wheel drive models offer decent fuel economy and dry-pavement handling, while models equipped with Command-Trac® 4WD offers power to all four wheels so you can conquer rough terrain. Available Selec-Trac® 4WD offers two-speed, full-time, active on-demand four wheel drive, which engages on rough terrain or smooth pavement. New for 2008, the innovative Sky Slider™ Roof, a mammoth retractable roof that features a windscreen, one-touch opening in 18 seconds, and anti-pinch protection, is a first-in-class innovation. Technology features include the available MyGIG™ Multimedia Infotainment System, with a GPS navigation system with touch-screen LCD monitor, real-time traffic information. and a 20 GB internal hard drive that stores up to 1,600 songs. Also available are an Infinity® premium sound system with SIRIUS® Satellite Radio for an amazing acoustic experience. The standard reclining 60/40 split folding rear seat offers enhanced versatility and cargo room. Safety features include standard dual front airbags, supplemental side-curtain airbags, and roll-sensing technology to protect all five passengers in a collision or potential rollover. Handling capabilities are enhanced with an advanced Electronic Stability control system with all-speed traction control and brake assist. New Trailer Sway Control helps to reduce trailer sway and improved handling even in crosswinds or heavy traffic. Standard on 4x4 models, Hill Descent Control allows smooth and controlled descents on rough or slippery terrain. Hill Start Assist helps the vehicle climb from a stop on a hill by applying appropriate brake pressure. More evolved and refined than its predecessor, the 2008 Jeep Liberty is worth a serious look if interior space, innovative technology, and excellent off-road abilities are at the top of your shopping list. |
