2012 Jeep Liberty Overview
Combining off-road capability with comfortable city driving, the 2012 Jeep Liberty will set you free.
The 2012 Jeep Liberty is now available in three trims: Sport, Limited, and the all-new Jet Edition, which adds exterior upgrades such as a 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, darkened headlight trim, and chrome accents. The Sport trim adds the Uconnect hands-free connections feature, compass, satellite radio, and an exterior temperature gauge as available equipment. Need help backing up? Rear park assist is now available in all models.
All 2012 Jeep Liberty models utilize a 210-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 that is paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard on the Liberty, but two four-wheel drive systems are available. The part-time Command-Trac II operates in 2WD, 4WD Lock, 4WD Low and Neutral, which is perfect for those who need part-time capability. For those who spend the majority of their time in adverse conditions or having to maneuver in rugged terrain, the Select-Trac II is a full-time four-wheel-drive system that operates in 2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD Low and Neutral.
The 2012 Jeep Liberty generates 235 pounds-feet of torque, which is good for a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. The Trailer Tow package includes a Class II receiver hitch, heavy-duty engine cooling, power-steering cooler, a full-size spare tire and trailer-sway control. The 2012 Liberty isn’t the most efficient SUV on the road, but it does feature a standard fuel shut-off system that turns off fuel when the Liberty decelerates and a fuel-saving indicator that notifies the driver when the Liberty is being driven efficiently. Fuel economy ratings check in at 15-16 mpg in the city and 21-22 mpg on the highway.
The exterior of the Liberty features a box-like rear fascia and automatic headlamps, power-operated and heated side mirrors and your choice of 16-, 17-, 18- or 20-inch wheels. Roof rails, a chrome grille and Jeep’s canvas, leak-proof Sky Slider roof, which replaces a traditional glass sunroof are optional. Inside, the 2012 Liberty seats five and boasts a total of 62.4 cubic-feet of storage space when the second row is folded. Heated power front seats, a navigation system, premium audio system, Bluetooth® audio streaming, auxiliary audio input jack, and a six-way power driver’s seat are optional.
Safety comes standard in the 2012 Jeep Liberty in the form of side curtain airbags, front and rear airbags, hill start assist, all-disc antilock brakes, active head restraints, a smart key engine immobilizer, and electronic stability system with electronic roll mitigation and all-speed traction.
When the going gets tough, the tough get a 2012 Jeep Liberty SUV.
