2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overview
Out of all the pioneers of the SUV craze in the 1990’s, the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee five-passenger midsize SUV is still going strong nearly 20 years later.
Competing against Ford Explorer and Toyota 4Runner, the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in three trim levels: Laredo, Limited and the high-performance SRT8. The Overland trim has been discontinued for 2010. Three engine choices are offered, including the base 210-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 and 357-horsepower, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with variable valve timing and multi-displacement system, which deactivates additional cylinders when less power is needed for improved fuel economy without sacrificing performance. The powerful 420-horsepower, 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 is a true beast. Each engine is mated to either a five-speed automatic with auto-manual or five-speed multi-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings reach up to 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
Laredo and Limited models are offered in rear- and front-wheel-drive configurations, while the SRT8 features an SRT-tuned suspension and lowered ride height available only in four-wheel drive for added off-road capability.
The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee sits on standard 17-inch aluminum wheels, with 18- and 20-inch wheels also available. Other options include a sunroof, heated seats, navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control and adjustable pedals. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls are standard.
Standard safety features include multi-stage front airbags, side curtain airbags for all rows, antilock brakes, electronic stability system, traction control, electronic roll mitigation and Smart Key, which immobilizes the engine to prevent theft. Optional features include parking assist with rear backup camera, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and hill start assist to prevent the vehicle from rolling down a hill when parked on an incline.
The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee helped define the midsize SUV segment and features two powerful performance-oriented V-8 engine options. The Grand Cherokee is loaded with standard safety features and offers a plethora of optional features for you to choose from.
