Neither the Mazda Tribute nor the Jeep Compass has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity. Towing is substantially more the Jeep Compass's forte than it is the Mazda Tribute's.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Mazda Tribute than the Jeep Compass because of its larger tank. The Jeep and the Tribute compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You will have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Jeep Compass than with the Mazda Tribute.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Jeep is significantly cheaper to get to the dealership than the Mazda Tribute. In terms of gas mileage, the Jeep is slightly better than the Mazda Tribute, but not by much. With respect to fuel economy, the Mazda Tribute and the Jeep Compass don't differ much. With respect to MSRP, the Compass doesn't cost much less than the Mazda Tribute.

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Compass and the Mazda Tribute most certainly handle approximately the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Jeep Compass and the Mazda have similar-sized engines, with a slight advantage to the Mazda. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Mazda isn't much more powerful than the Compass.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Compass offers a bit more head room than the Mazda Tribute, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Compass provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Mazda Tribute does.

Warranty
The Compass and the Tribute have the same basic after-sale protection.
