Jeep Compass vs. Kia Sorento Review

Neither the Kia Sorento nor the Jeep Compass has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity. The Kia is likely a better choice than the Jeep when it comes to hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of equipment or animals. Towing is substantially more the Kia Sorento's forte than it is the Jeep Compass's.

Performance
As far as horsepower, the Kia Sorento packs quite a wallop and will knock the Jeep Compass down a few rungs. However, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Kia Sorento is significantly heavier than the Jeep. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Kia Sorento than the Jeep because of its bigger tank. The Jeep Compass and the Sorento compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The Jeep Compass's fuel tank will need to be replenished slightly more often than the unit in the Kia Sorento.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Jeep Compass is substantially cheaper to get to the dealership than the Kia Sorento. The Kia Sorento will tax your gas budget significantly more than the Jeep Compass will. The Kia Sorento consumes a lot of gasoline compared to the Jeep Compass. In terms of MSRP, the Kia Sorento costs roughly as much as the Jeep Compass (though the Jeep Compass is a bit cheaper). The Kia Sorento will cost you a bundle in gas every year compared to the Compass.

Drivetrain
The Jeep Compass's engine is considerably smaller than the Kia Sorento's. Bear in mind that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the flip side, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque equals pickup, and the Kia Sorento will have picked up and gone by the time the Jeep Compass finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Kia Sorento is substantially more powerful than the Jeep.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Jeep Compass offers a bit more head room than the Sorento, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Jeep Compass make it substantially roomier for your passengers than the Kia Sorento.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Jeep Compass isn't quite as generous as the Kia Sorento's.
