In terms of horsepower, the Ford Escape packs quite a wallop and will knock the Jeep Compass down a few rungs. On the other hand, bear in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

With their comparable turning circles, the Jeep Compass and the Ford Escape likely handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.
