2010 Jeep Commander Overview
A rugged and supremely capable throwback to the Jeep models of yesteryear, the 2010 Jeep Commander is a big, burly full-size SUV boasting a variety of powerful engines and enhanced off-road capabilities. To get you to your destination, the 2010 Jeep Commander has the power to climb mountains – and maybe move some. Engine options include a 210-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6, a 305-horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 and a 357-horsepower, 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8. Engines are mated to a five-speed automatic. Power is delivered to a two-wheel drive system, or to one of three four-wheel drive systems. Fuel economy numbers match those of the Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder, reaching 13-15 city mpg and 19-20 highway mpg, but the Commander far surpasses these competitors in power. Headroom in the 2010 Jeep Commander’s interior surpasses the Chevrolet Traverse, Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer. Sixty-nine cubic feet of cargo space lets you take all your favorite stuff with you. The Sport model offers rear parking sensors, Sirius Satellite Radio and a CD player, plus options of a front and rear sunroof, heat for both front seats, a Boston Acoustics stereo upgrade and a navigation system. Many of those features are standard on the Limited model, which adds premium leather seat skins, a rearview camera, three-zone climate control (one zone for the rear), a leather-wrapped shift knob and an optional TV with DVD entertainment system and video game connectivity. The available Uconnect multimedia system features a 30 GB hard drive to store and play music, and can act as a Wi-Fi hotspot to which you can connect laptops and other wireless electronics. A big, sturdy metal body and chassis unit houses dual front, front-side airbags and three-row head airbags. The Commander gets Five-Star ratings for frontal impact tests from NHTSA. Four-wheel antilock brakes with brake assist, and traction and stability control systems are standard. Other electronics such as Hill Descent Control enhance off-road safety by maximizing grip in slippery conditions. If seating for seven and the unbeatable off-road capability of a Jeep don’t have you sold, a V-8 engine, premium leather seats, and a sweet stereo make the 2010 Jeep Commander irresistible.
