2010 Jaguar XKR Overview
For 2010, Jaguar has built on the success of the all-new XK that debuted in 2005 to develop another masterpiece—the 2010 Jaguar XKR supercharged luxury sports car. The 2010 Jaguar XKR is available as a coupe or convertible, both of which deliver an enormous amount of power. Like the XK model, the new XKR enjoys an upgraded 510-horsepower, 4.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift, which helps deliver quick and smooth gear changes and allows you to switch between automatic and manual modes. XKR’s active exhaust ensures the supercharged V-8 remains quiet at cruising speeds but roars to life under hard acceleration and can go from 0-60 mpg in less than five seconds. Competing with Mercedes-Benz SL500, the 2010 Jaguar XKR is lighter in weight and actually accelerates quicker than the SL500 while costing less. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The 2010 Jaguar XKR makes a powerful statement through the use of sporty styling cues such as an enhanced front bumper and aluminum-finish grilles and side power vents. A quad-exhaust system and 19- and 20-inch alloy wheel designs add to the XKR’s overall presence. Unique interior features include a sports seat design with additional lateral support for both the driver and front seat passenger and standard aluminum interior trim. You can also opt for the luxury sports interior option, which features soft grain leather on the 16-way adjustable seats, instrument panel, door trim and centre console. The XFR also offers the optional Bowers & Wilkins 440-watt sound system with Dolby ProLogic II surround sound and MP3-compatible Portable Audio Interface with touch-screen or steering wheel-mounted controls. A computerized active technology suspension ensures the optimum balance between ride and handling and a new switchable dynamic stability control with traction control system have also been recalibrated to complement the supercharged engine’s additional power. Larger ventilated front brake discs ensure better braking performance for the XKR. Additional safety features include four-channel ABS, electronic brake force distribution and hydraulic brake assist, which increase brake pressure during an emergency stop. Agile and quick, the 2010 Jaguar XKR handles like a sports car, offers high levels of comfort, style and craftsmanship and delivers a blend of performance and luxury that is true to the Jaguar nameplate.
