2014 Jaguar XJ Overview
Jaguar's flagship sedan, the five-seat XJ, has exterior and interior design cues in the style of the XF sedan. The long-wheelbase XJL has five inches of extra rear legroom. The XJ competes in the full-size luxury class with the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS 460 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
New for 2014
The normally aspirated V-8 engine has been dropped. Other changes include standard soft-close doors, enhancements to the available front-seat massage feature and a newly available 26-speaker Meridian premium stereo. The stereo uses microphones to amplify passengers' voices to make conversation in the car easier. A new rear-seat entertainment system and new reclining, massaging rear seats are also available.
LED taillights and Xenon HID headlights come standard, with adaptive headlights available. The Jaguar features dual exhausts, power trunk lid, and a panoramic glass roof.
The XJ features a long-wheelbase model which offers 5 more inches of backseat legroom. The standard JaguarDrive gear selector motors up from the center console, as well virtual gauges on a 12.3-inch instrument-panel screen and navigation system with 8-inch touch-screen. The interior is fitted with a leather-covered dashboard and Meridian premium stereo. Additional features include heated and cooled front and rear seats and carbon fiber interior trim and styling.
Under the Hood
The XJ is powered by a 340-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine in eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine comes in rear-wheel drive; all-wheel drive available with the supercharged V-6, suspension varies firmness as conditions dictate, and the JaguarDrive Control offers Winter and Dynamic driving modes.
The luxury sedan features standard antilock brakes, front and rear parking sensors and backup camera, blind spot warning system, electronic stability system, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints.
