Inside the XF is now stocked with new driver assistance and multimedia technology.
Jaguar's F-Type is one of the most aggressively styled coupes on the market, and designers incorporated some of those cues with the new XF sedan. The XF retains a decent amount of the same exterior styling as the outgoing XF design but has new dimensions with a 2-inch longer wheelbase (116.5 inches), but shorter overall length (195 inches). The more notable design changes include a more upright front styling and new rear quarter window that attempts to increase visibility while allowing more light into car.
The XF's longer wheelbase allows for additional legroom (0.6 inches) and knee room (0.9 inches) for backseat passengers. Headroom has grown as well by as well as head room (1.1 inches) in that back seat. The 2016 XF’s backseat is mounted lower when compared to the 2015 model which allows for the additional headroom. The interior features a standard 8-inch-touch-screen with iPhone and Android application integration for compatible apps. Jaguar’s latest InControl Touch Pro multimedia system offers an available 10.2 –inch touch-screen with customizable background wallpapers and widgets to provide shortcuts to favorites. The upgraded system also features an 825-watt Meridian sound system.
Under the hood, the XF features two high-performance engine choices. The base engine is a 340-hp, supercharged 3.0L V-6, while the XF S features a more powerful 380-hp, supercharged 3.0L V-6. The XF S was clocked with a 0-to-60 mph of 5.1 seconds. All engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. There are separate transmissions for rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions of the XF, with RWD models getting a lighter and more compact transmission versus the available AWD models. As with previous models, the rotary knob gear selector carries over.
The 2016 Jaguar XF features many available safety features such as forward collision warning with automatic braking that first gives the driver an audible and visual warning before initiating braking force and then full braking if necessary. The Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection warns the driver when vehicles are approaching from the rear. Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist systems are available, as well as a drowsy driver monitor that evaluates steering, pedal and instrument and provides audible and visual warnings when a driver seems drowsy. The camera system that assists many of the advanced safety data also feeds a Traffic Sign Recognition feature to capture road sign speed limits and cross-references GPS data to ensure accuracy.
