Elegant, powerful, and luxurious, the 2008 Jaguar S-Type sedan is an amalgam of sleek design and world-class performance. With a distinct shape and unique lines, the S-Type was last redesigned in 2005 and is currently available in three trim levels – 3.0, 4.2, and S-Type R.

The 3.0 liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine pumps out 235 horsepower and 216 lb.-ft. of torque. Moving upmarket, the 4.2 liter DOHC V8 generates 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. The crown jewel is the Eaton Supercharged 4.2 liter DOHC V8 in the S-Type R, churning out a peak of 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed ZF electronic automatic transmission is standard on all trim levels, providing seamless downshifting for enhanced performance.

As you would expect in this class, safety features are plentiful in the S-Type, with a standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), and an Enhanced Computer Active Technology Suspension (eCATS), the latter available exclusively in the S-Type R. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and traction control are also standard across the board.

Known for its style, the S-Type is offered with an array of attention-getting 18- and 19-inch wheels, unique bright-finish grilles, and burl walnut trim or satin mahogany trim on the S-Type R.  Occupants are wrapped in full leather seating, with optional softgrain leather upholstery. A dual-zone automatic climate control system with pollen air filter is standard, and stereo choices range from a standard 140-watt AM/FM sound system with single-disc CD player, to a 320-watt Alpine® Premium Sound System with a trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer.

Additional standard conveniences like a power moonroof with one-touch operation, HomeLink®-compatible 3-channel garage/entry gate opener, and rain-sensing windshield wipers are to be expected in a luxury sedan. The S-Type, however, also incorporates advanced technology features that include a DVD-based navigation system, Bluetooth® wireless technology, radar-based adaptive cruise control, and reverse park control.
