- Standard V-8 mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission
- Rear- and four-wheel drive options
- High-end Limited trim is available
The 2017 INFINITI QX80 is a full-size SUV that can seat up to 8 passengers. It competes with the Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX570, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. This year, it remains largely unchanged.
Three trim levels are available: the base model, 4WD, and Limited.
Overall, the QX80 has a muscular, yet sleek appearance. The front-end features a massive grille with diamond-pattern mesh and a chrome frame. The headlights and lower fascia are sporty, but have a smaller presence compared to the grille. The blacked-out A-, B-, and C-pillars give the illusion of an overhang rooftop. Decorative side vents at the front fenders serve to imply luxury and aggressiveness. Standard features include LED headlights, LED front fog lights, power/heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators, roof rails, a power liftgate, a trailer hitch receiver, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Limited trim comes with dark chrome exterior accents, illuminated kick plates, and unique 22-inch alloy wheels are available as well.
Under the hood, the QX80 is powered by a standard 400-hp, 5.6-liter V-8 engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that produces 413 pounds-feet of torque. It has a maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard, while four-wheel drive is optional. Fuel efficiency for the base and 4WD trims is an EPA-estimated 14/20 mpg city/highway. It lowers slightly to a 13/19 mpg rating for the Limited trim.
Inside, the QX80 is a premium leather/wood trim interior with a pair of second-row captain’s chairs and a 60/40 split-folding, reclining third-row seat. The second-row has its own unique center console with storage compartments. The front center stack features the INFINITI Navigation system that includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, voice recognition, a USB port, and Bose speakers. It can be upgraded with a more premium Bose audio system. Standard features include tri-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof, heated front seats, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, remote keyless entry, remote vehicle start, and push-button start. 7-inch dual-screen rear entertainment system is also available. The 4WD Limited comes with quilted leather upholstery, leather-wrapped grab handles, ultrasuede headliner and pillars, and a matte-finish ash wood trim.
Standard safety features include an advanced airbag system, antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Available active safety features include an around-view monitor, a blindspot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward emergency braking, and pedestrian detection.
