2015 INFINITI Q70L Exterior

2015 INFINITI Q70L Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Long wheelbase version of the Q70 is new for 2015
  • Flagship sedan in the Infiniti lineup
  • Adds 5.6-inches of legroom for rear seat passengers
The largest and most luxurious sedan in the Infiniti lineup gets even bigger in 2015, with a long wheelbase version arriving for the new model year, the Q70L.

Last year, Infiniti changed up the names of its vehicles and the Q70 is the new name for what was formerly the M-series of sedans. For 2015, the Q70L gets the same changes found on the Q70: new exterior styling and more safety technology. The grille has a new shape and adds a mesh finish with chrome highlights around the edges. The front fascia has been updated and houses new LED fog lights, and there are new LED headlights and taillights as well. 18-inch alloy wheels come standard, with 20-inch wheels optional. Automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a power moonroof are also standard.

Under the hood, the engine options remain the same. The base engine is a 330-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 that makes 270 pounds-feet of torque, while those seeking more performance can opt for a 420-hp, 5.6-liter V-8 making 417 pounds-feet of torque. A seven-speed automatic is the only transmission option and rear-wheel drive is standard, with an intelligent all-wheel drive system optional.

The Q70L has a 5.9-inch longer wheelbase than the standard version and the additional length is most felt in the backseat. Cargo room is the same at 14.9 cubic feet, but rear seat passengers enjoy 5.6-inches more legroom and 5.9-inches of extra knee room. This gives the Q70L a plush, roomy backseat that’s comfortable for trips of any length.

Inside, the Q70L is heavy laden with standard features including leatherette upholstery, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity (no audio), powered/heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and push-button start. Real wood trim pieces give the cabin a premium feel and many comfort and luxury features are also standard such as active noise control and entry/exit assist for the driver’s seat and the steering wheel. The Q70L’s interior options, like most of Infiniti’s vehicles, aren’t offered a la carte; they are included in different packages for simpler ordering. A navigation system, leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, and cooled front seats are all available in various bundles.

The 2015 Q70L performed well in crash testing, earning a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, their highest honor. A backup camera, six airbags, active front head restraints, antilock brakes, and an electronic stability system are standard. The Q70L also offers many of the latest safety technologies, such as blind spot monitoring, adaptive headlights, lane departure warning, and forward collision control. Also available this year are two new safety features, an around view monitor with moving object detection and predictive forward collision warning.
