2012 INFINITI M56x Overview

If you live where it snows often, on the top of a mountain with a winding road, or you just love the thrill of responsive driving, then the powerful and agile 2012 Infiniti M56x is the luxury sedan for you.

The ‘x’ designates the M56x as the all-wheel drive version of the M56. Equipped with a 420-horsepower, 5.6-liter V-8 that generates a whopping 417 pounds-feet of torque, the 2012 M56x can accelerate with the best of them. A seven-speed automatic is the only transmission, and the M56x incorporates Infiniti’s Intelligent all-wheel drive system that constantly monitors wheel-spin, throttle position, and vehicle speed to automatically divert up to 50% of the power to the front wheels enhancing traction and control in adverse conditions.

Customize your driving experience with Infiniti Drive, which lets you select from various drivetrain settings (Standard, Eco, Sport and Snow modes) via a knob controller. The Eco mode is the most interesting because it indicates how efficiently you are driving via a yellow-to-green gauge and also provides resistance to the accelerator if it detects inefficient driving. The Infiniti M56x competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, and Jaguar XF. In terms of fuel-efficiency, the M56x receives 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

The 2012 Infiniti M56x has a curved hood and a sleek front fascia with a low-sitting grille for an all-around sophisticated, yet modern look. Dual exhaust with polished tips, front fog lights, LED rear brake lights, power-folding side mirrors, xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels are standard, while 20-inch wheels and darker grille/headlights are optional.

Sit inside the 2012 M56x, however briefly, and you’ll know see why this Infiniti sits atop the brand’s lineup. Luxurious features like faux-leather-stitched dashboard panels, semi-aniline leather seating, and Japanese Ash wood trim are just some of the available appointments. Standard features include: 10-way power driver’s seat, DVD player, a two-channel, 10-speaker Bose sound system, hard drive navigation system, eight-inch WVGA color touch-screen display, voice recognition, XM Satellite Radio, USB/iPod connectivity, power sliding moonroof, climate-controlled front seats, and heated steering wheel.

In terms of safety, the 2012 Infiniti M56 is loaded with Lane Guidance, which alerts you when you start drifting into the adjacent lane. The optional blind spot warning system and forward collision warning system alert help to keep an extra eye on the road. Adaptive headlights that swivel in the direction of turns are also optional, while six airbags, antilock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system are standard.

Go wherever the road takes you in the luxurious, yet primal 2012 Infiniti M56x.
