2009 Infiniti FX50 Overview
The folks at Infiniti have really outdone themselves this time. By taking the best of two other models—the Infiniti EX35 and Infiniti FX35 and dropping in a 5.0-liter, 390-horsepower V8 monster of an engine, they have created a car with no peers. They have created the 2009 Infiniti FX50.
Thrust into the SUV/crossover segment, the FX50 competes against the Mercedes M-Class and Lexus RX. The FX50 has more power, unique styling, and better fuel economy than the M-Class. Expect to get 14 MPG city and 20 MPG highway in the Infiniti—a small price to pay for unparalleled power.
Exterior features include a lower, wider chrome grille, menacing headlights, Enkei 6-spoke, 21-inch aluminum alloy wheels, integrated rear spoiler and HID bi-functional xenon headlights.
The FX50 took a page from the EX35’s book with the Around View Monitor, which gives you a virtual 360-degree view in your in-dash monitor so you can see all around your FX when parking. Climate-controlled front seats, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, iPod connectivity, Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with 8-inch color touch-screen, XM NavTraffic® with Real-Time Traffic information, 9.3GB Music Box hard drive with compact flash slot and 11-speaker Bose® Premium Audio system round out the high-tech gadgetry. Standard interior accents include a glass moonroof, 8-way power driver’s seat, 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks and leather-appointed interior with hand-stained maple wood trim.
It is rare to find a vehicle that can blend such raw power with agile handling. Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) lets you adapt to ever-changing conditions by adjusting the balance of power between the front and rear wheels when needed. Encounter excellent handling with the optional Continuous Damping Control (CDC), which will automatically tighten or soften the suspension when cornering or cruising.
When it comes to safety, the FX50 is loaded with the technology to prevent accidents. If you start drifting into another lane, Lane Departure Warning lets you know. The Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) comes with dual-stage front air bags, driver and front-passenger side-impact air bags and roof-mounted curtain side impact air bags.
Those looking for the future of luxury, cutting edge technology and immense power in an SUV/crossover will have to look no further, for the future is here, the future is infinite—the future is the Infiniti FX50.
