With respect to gas mileage, the Hyundai Santa Fe is slightly better than the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but not by much. When it comes to MSRP, the Santa Fe doesn't cost much less than the Jeep.

Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the Hyundai Santa Fe over the Jeep.

Convenience
You most definitely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Wrangler Unlimited than with the Hyundai Santa Fe, as both offer comparable mileage ranges.

Comfort
Taller drivers will significantly enjoy the extra head room in the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's front cabin compared to the Santa Fe. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Dimensions
The Hyundai Santa Fe's tank is approximately the same size as the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's, though the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's is slightly larger. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and the Hyundai compete for the same parking spaces. The Hyundai Santa Fe's shorter wheelbase will likely give a nimbler feel in daily traffic. On the flip side, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Hyundai Santa Fe is quite certainly sprier than the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, keep in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a more massive engine than the Hyundai Santa Fe. Bear in mind that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but smaller engines can be stressed more. Torque equals pickup, and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will have picked up and gone by the time the Hyundai Santa Fe finally gets moving. The Santa Fe could learn a lesson or two from the Wrangler Unlimited regarding pickup.

The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Jeep isn't quite as generous as the Hyundai Santa Fe's.
