In terms of horsepower, the Santa Fe packs quite a punch and will knock the Honda CR-V down a few rungs. On the other hand, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their similar turning radii, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Honda CR-V definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Honda CR-V's engine is a bit smaller than the Santa Fe's, but not terribly so. The Honda CR-V could learn a lesson or two from the Hyundai Santa Fe regarding torque.

Utility
Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the Hyundai Santa Fe over the Honda. Towing is significantly more the Hyundai Santa Fe's forte than it is the Honda CR-V's.

Convenience
The Honda CR-V's fuel tank will need to be replenished a bit more often than the unit in the Santa Fe.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the CR-V offers a bit more head room than the Hyundai, there really isn't much of a difference. The Honda CR-V is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Hyundai.

Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Hyundai Santa Fe than the Honda CR-V because of its bigger tank. The Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Santa Fe compete for the same parking spaces.
