2012 Hyundai Genesis Overview
2012 promises to be an exciting year and a new “beginning” of sorts for the Hyundai Genesis. The new model year brings with it plenty of changes to the upscale full-size sedan, most notably a pair of new engines under the hood and an exterior redesign.
The first thing you’ll notice about the 2012 Genesis is its new, bolder look. The new grille is more prominent and as a whole the front has more of an aggressive slant to it as well as LED headlights. More changes have been made to the taillights and the Genesis also adds power-folding side mirrors as well.
Powertrain options for the rear-wheel drive Genesis also get an update. The 3.8 trim gets a new 333-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6 that offers 43-horsepower more than the previous year’s V-6, while the 4.6 trim keeps the same powerful 385-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8. For 2012, the Genesis also adds a performance-oriented 5.0 R-Spec trim which comes with a 429-horsepower, (you guessed it) 5.0-liter V-8. Each is outfitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel economy numbers have risen slightly to 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway with the V-6 engine equipped. Opting for the 4.6-liter V-8 dips those numbers to 17 and 26 respectively, while the sportier R-Spec trim nets you 16 mpg/city and 25 mpg/highway.
Inside, you can see plenty of luxury influence as the Genesis features an upscale interior with advanced technology and a premium level of fit and finish. Standard features on the Genesis include satellite radio, Bluetooth® connectivity, a USB audio port, powered and heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The Genesis can also be outfitted with a touchscreen navigation system, heated rear seats, rearview camera, and a smart cruise control system.
When it comes to safety, the 2012 Genesis cuts no corners offering antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and eight standard airbags. Further optional safety technologies include front and rear parking sensors and a lane-departure warning system.
Simply put the 2012 Hyundai Genesis is ready to play with the big boys. This full-size Korean heavyweight is available in whatever variety you need, whether you’re looking for a luxury cruiser or a performance oriented sedan.

I enjoy the quick acceleration and power this car with reasonable gas mileage provides me. Also, the passenger comfort was an added plus. It provides lots of leg room with headed leather rear seating. My friend who is 6'3 was still able to enjoy passenger seating.

When my wife first suggested we look at the Hyundai Genesis, I said "Why? Its a Hyundai! Who wants that?" I am glad we went to look at it. I am completely blown away by the overall quality and value for the buck. The car rides extremely well and has more power than you will ever need. The quality of workmanship is first rate. The overall apperance can only be summed up this way, "Is that the new Mercedes?" I have been asked that several times. Do yourself a favor, go test drive one. You will be IMPRESSED!!
