2010 Hyundai Accent Overview
While many individuals are attracted to those with foreign accents because they are exotic, your wallet is attracted to the 2010 Hyundai Accent because it is so efficient and affordable. This economical three- or four-door vehicle is powered by a 110-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which is more power than the Toyota Yaris and Chevrolet Aveo. The engine is bolted to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission, and Accent achieves 27-28 mpg in the city and 34-36 mpg on the highway. That is a four-percent improvement in city mileage over the 2009 Accent models, and a three-percent gain on the highway. The Blue model is the most fuel efficient Accent model, and represents a nine-percent gain in overall fuel efficiency. The Blue model, distinguishable by its special badging, features a lower ride height and revised gear ratios to maximize fuel economy. And, what’s more, the Blue model is the most affordable Accent available. All Accent models received green treatment for 2010, including engine and aerodynamic component redesigns, lower rolling resistance tires and “smart” alternator management engine calibrations. Outfitting the Blue, SE, GS and GLS models are standard/optional features including a 172-watt, six-speaker audio system, a USB port for portable media devices, XM Satellite Radio, sport-tuned suspension and a B&M Racing® sport shifter with short, precise throws for fun driving. The sport suspension features a 70-percent increase in roll stiffness over the standard suspension, for aggressive cornering. Attractive exterior enhancements include five-spoke wheels, with 16-inch rims on the SE. A rear spoiler on all three-door models makes the Accent look built for fun. For an upscale look, a chrome touch is added to the front grille. Interior enhancements include a stretched wheelbase, which contributes to 104.6 cubic feet of interior room – more than the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, which are a class above. In the safety category, the Accent sets the standard for the economy class with dual front, front-side and two-row head airbags. This plus excellent body and chassis design net the 2010 Hyundai Accent Five-Star front impact ratings in government testing. Other safety items include belt-force limiters to reduce seatbelt-induced injuries and available antilock brakes with brake-force distribution. Safety, impeccable fuel economy and fun features combine with a feather-light sticker price to make the 2010 Hyundai Accent a smart choice for efficient motoring.
