The HUMMER H3 is significantly cheaper to get to the dealership than the Dodge Durango. Producing an exact gas mileage evaluation is so difficult that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the HUMMER H3 and the HUMMER H3 perform about comparably with respect to gas mileage. Regarding gas mileage, the HUMMER H3 is a little better than the Dodge Durango, but not by much. The Dodge Durango isn't much costlier than the HUMMER as far as MSRP.

Utility
The Dodge Durango is likely a better choice than the HUMMER H3 with respect to transporting cargo, especially if you often need to carry a lot of cargo or sizeable pets. While the front cabin in the Dodge Durango offers a bit more head room than the HUMMER H3, there honestly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Dodge offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the HUMMER H3, there frankly isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The Dodge Durango is somewhat heavier than the HUMMER H3. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Dodge Durango than the HUMMER H3 because of its larger tank. The H3 and the Dodge compete for the same parking spaces. The Dodge Durango's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the other hand, the H3 may give a nimbler feel in daily traffic.

Handling
With their similar turning radii, the HUMMER H3 and the Dodge quite certainly handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Dodge Durango has a more massive engine than the HUMMER H3. Note that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Dodge Durango is quite a bit more powerful than the HUMMER. The H3 could learn a lesson or two from the Dodge Durango in terms of pickup.
