2008 HUMMER H3 SUV Overview
The midsize 2008 Hummer H3 SUV lives up to its off-road reputation with a powerful engine and rugged suspension, yet also holds its own on the pavement with a long list of features and amenities. Available in three trim lines – H3, Adventure, and Luxury – they share the same 3.7 liter V6 engine producing 242 horsepower, which is competitive, but less powerful than other luxury SUVs sporting big V8 engines. A 5-speed manual transmission comes standard, which is extremely rare for this class. With the optional 4-speed automatic transmission, towing capacity reaches 4,500 lbs. A 2-speed, electronically-controlled full-time four-wheel drive system is standard, offering excellent off-road handling. The standard StabiliTrak stability enhancement system offers precise handling in all weather conditions. A traction control system is also standard, with brake-controlled, single-wheel control and rear axle locking differential – which transfers available torque to the wheels that need it most. The H3 is loaded with active safety features. 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with Dynamic Rear Proportioning balanced brake pressure between front and rear, ensuring even wear and maximizing braking power. Dual front airbags and head curtain side airbags protect front and rear seat passengers. The standard tire pressure monitoring system constantly monitors tire pressure and alerts the driver to any significant changes. There is ample interior room for 5 adults, with a long list of amenities. An optional 7-speaker Monsoon® audio system offers a subwoofer and 200 watts of power with an in-dash 6-disc CD changer with MP3 capability. Navigation radio is also available, providing an integrated navigation screen and audio system. An available sunroof provides cool breezes, while a chrome appearance package adds a flashy touch to the H3’s style. Not as rugged as its corporate brethren, the 2008 Hummer H3 is nonetheless a capable off-road performer and comfortable urban runabout that can handle a variety of adventures. |
