2009 HUMMER H2 SUV Overview
Bigger just got better. The most famous SUV on Earth is the undisputed king of the wilderness and with a few minor enhancements to last year’s model; the 2009 Hummer H2 SUV proves that it has no equals when it comes to off-roading.
The H2 is not exactly meant for the day-to-day grind of city driving due to its less-than stellar 13-14 MPG city and 16-18 MPG highway. That being said, get the H2 out of the city and let the 6.2-liter, 393-horsepower Vortec® V-8 engine work its magic. The six-speed automatic transmission offers a gargantuan 8,200 lbs. of towing capacity. Because it is meant for extreme conditions, standard full-time four-wheel drive allows the H2 to climb through all terrain that stands in its way—including 60 percent inclines. The same cannot be said for the Land Rover LR3, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class.
All three trim levels, the base, Adventure and Luxury offer General Motor’s OnStar Directions & Connections Service for the first year. Turn-by-turn navigation, Automatic Crash Response, Emergency and Security Services and hands-free calling are all yours for free.
Inside, a host of available amenities such as a touch-screen DVD navigation radio featuring a single-disc CD/MP3/DVD player and Bose® Cabin Surround® Sound System prove that the H2 is no one-trick pony. Standard 8-way power front seats and leather upholstery offer amazing comfort. Optional second-row captain’s chairs give passengers maximum comfort while third-row-seat storage improves cargo room.
The H2 is as safe as it is rugged. Standard four-channel Anti-Lock Brakes and traction control system features a rear axle locking differential to maximize grip and traction when the road gets treacherous. The optional Air Suspension Package features a self-leveling air suspension works with an on-board air compressor to adjust suspension height. The standard StabiliTrak Stability Enhancement System helps to keep the vehicle under control during evasive maneuvers or quick transitions. The available Rear Vision Camera System offers a view of what’s behind the vehicle to make parking easier.
Get out of the concrete jungle and into the real one with a vehicle that has no peers—the 2009 Hummer H2 SUV.
