Honda Fit vs. Hyundai Elantra Review

The Honda Fit and the Hyundai Elantra can accommodate the same number of passengers.

Performance
Both the Honda and the Hyundai Elantra are likely to feel a bit sluggish because of their high horsepower-to-weight ratio.

Dimensions
The Hyundai Elantra is considerably heavier than the Honda Fit. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Hyundai than the Honda because of its more capacious tank. The Honda Fit and the Hyundai Elantra compete for the same parking spaces. The Honda Fit's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a more agile feel in daily traffic than the Hyundai Elantra.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Honda Fit to the dealership as the Hyundai Elantra. With respect to MSRP, the Hyundai Elantra costs approximately as much as the Fit (though the Fit is a tad cheaper). With respect to final cost, the Fit costs about as much as the Hyundai Elantra (though the Hyundai Elantra is somewhat cheaper). The Hyundai Elantra will cost you a bundle in gasoline every year compared to the Fit.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Hyundai is very likely nimbler than the Honda Fit, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, keep in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Fit's engine is significantly smaller than the Hyundai Elantra's. Note that smaller engines can be stressed more; however, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque equals pickup, and the Hyundai Elantra will have picked up and gone by the time the Honda finally gets moving.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Honda offers a bit more head room than the Hyundai Elantra, there honestly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Hyundai Elantra provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the Honda Fit, there frankly isn't much of a difference.

Overview
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Honda Fit isn't quite as generous as the Hyundai Elantra's.

The Hyundai Elantra emits fewer smog-forming pollutants per 15,000 miles than the Honda Fit.
