2009 Honda Civic Overview
Options, options and more options headline the mildly redesigned practical and functional 2009 Honda Civic.

If you’re into efficient and dependable sedans/coupes, then you will love what Honda has in store for you. There are five different models available that have trim levels within, and feature a redesigned the bumper with more pronounced grille openings to give an “expressive and futuristic” design. Start with the Civic sedan and coupe, which feature the DX, DX-VP (all-new), LX, LX-S (all-new), EX and EX-L. The DX-VP comes with A/C and an audio system, while the LX-S adds alloy wheels, a spoiler and sportier cloth seats. Then move up to the performance Si model, which is available in sedan and coupe models. If you’re ready for real Honda ingenuity, the Civic Hybrid will blow your fuel-efficient mind. Competition for the Civic includes the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra and Nissan Sentra.

All regular Civic coupes and sedans use a 1.8-liter, 140-horsepower i-VTEC engine mated to a standard 5-speed manual transmission with a 5-speed automatic transmission available. The Si features a 2.0-liter, 197-horsepower i-VTEC six-speed manual transmission. With the exception of the Civic Hybrid, expect to get 21-36 MPG in the city and 29-36 MPG on the highway. Not only is the Civic one of the most fuel efficient sedan/hatchbacks on the road today, but it also emits a paltry 6.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

When it comes to technology, the Civic answers the call. A Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice recognition and Bluetooth connectivity are optional.  A 160-watt CD/MP3 six speaker audio system with a USB interface lets you manage all of your digital media, including your iPod®, comes standard.

Safety features abound in the Civic. Side curtain airbags and dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, antilock brakes, active front head restraints all come standard. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control helps the driver keep control if side slippage is detected so that you can keep your intended course with the greatest of ease.

Save money at the pump and choose between several different trim options with the newly redesigned and always reliable 2009 Honda Civic.
