2009 Honda Odyssey Overview
Soccer moms, hockey moms and parents everywhere can appreciate the 2009 Honda Odyssey’s reliability, spacious interior and improved fuel economy.
After going through an extensive interior and exterior redesign last year, the Odyssey looks as sharp as ever, proving that you don’t have to put up with the same boring minivan anymore. Out of the four trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring, only the LX is without dual power sliding doors. The Touring offers a power liftgate and a power moonroof. All trims boast a 3.5-liter, 244-horsepower V-6 engine, which is mated to a five-speed transmission. The Odyssey’s 244-horsepower is more than the Toyota Sienna, Dodge Grand Caravan and Hyundai Entourage. Fuel economy is improved and the Odyssey now gets 16-17 MPG in the city and 23-25 MPG on the highway. The engine size and excellent fuel efficiency is perfect for those going on extended trips.
Speaking of road trips, the Odyssey fits up to eight passengers with the first two rows of bucket seats and a bench seat in the back. The removable center “PlusOne” seat in the second row can stow into a recessed compartment, which can be used for storage when the seat isn’t stowed. The Touring features a standard 9-inch DVD screen in the rear seats and a voice activated navigation system that can respond to 637 commands and understand street names, numbers and destinations. Just because you're focused on family doesn’t mean that you can’t have all the fun tech toys at your disposal. Navigate your Bluetooth device, XM Satellite Radio and 6-disc in-dash CD changer while keeping your hands on the wheel. Prove that you’re the boss and use the MP3/auxiliary input jack for your iPod.
When it comes to safety, the Odyssey had a 5-star rating in frontal and side-impact crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Side-impact and three row side curtain airbags, all-disc antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability system and tire pressure monitoring system com standard on all trim levels. Keep in mind that Honda is one of the most reliable names in the auto world, so you won’t have to worry about breaking down.
Stay safe and fit the whole team inside without giving up the luxuries and tech features with the 2009 Honda Odyssey.
