2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Overview
If you require tons of utility, copious amounts of seating/cargo room, ample power and plenty of interior amenities to keep your family and friends busy, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 full-size SUV has you covered.
The mammoth 2011 GMC Yukon XL is offered in half-ton 1500, three-quarter-ton 2500 and high-end Denali models. Closely resembling the Chevrolet Suburban, the 2011 Yukon XL 1500 is available in rear- or four-wheel-drive configurations, while the Denali has a permanent all-wheel-drive system. The 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is powered by a whopping 310-horsepower, 5.3-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine with 335 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission plus auto-manual mode. If that’s not enough, you can always opt for the 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter flex-fuel V-8 with 417 pounds-feet of torque for optimal acceleration.
When properly equipped, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 can tow a truck-like 8,100 pounds, while the XL 2500 can haul up to 9,600 pounds. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings range between 12-15 mpg in the city and 17-20 mpg on the highway, which isn’t bad considering its size. As far as competition in the extra-long full-size SUV segment goes, only the Ford Expedition EL, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL 2500 can compete.
Measuring 20 inches longer than the regular Yukon, the 2011 Yukon XL 1500 offers three rows of seating for up to nine occupants. With the third row removed and power-folding second-row seats folded flat, maximum cargo volume is a generous 137.4 cubic feet, compared to the Ford Expedition EL’s 130.8 cubic feet. Inside, the steering wheel is wrapped in leather and XM Satellite Radio with real-time traffic reports is standard. Options include an integrated camera located in the rearview mirror, heated and cooled seats and a third-row DVD entertainment system. Exterior features include power heated side mirrors, an optional lift gate and power-operated retractable running boards. An integrated brake controller option provides proper brake force to a trailer in tow.
A suite of standard safety technologies helps keep occupants well protected. They include front dual-stage airbags with a passenger-sensing system, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, four-wheel antilock brakes and an electronic stability system with traction control. An optional blind spot warning system, rear parking assist and rain-sensing wipers enhance the safety package on the 2011 Yukon XL 1500.
Get the family and get out into nature with the full-size fun machine—the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500.
