2010 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Overview
Extra long, extra large…you get the point. The cavernous 2010 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is an excellent choice, whether you’re hauling people or towing a trailer.

The mammoth 2010 GMC Yukon XL is offered in half-ton 1500, three-quarter-ton 2500 and high-end Denali models. Closely resembling the Chevrolet Suburban, the 2010 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is available in rear- or four-wheel-drive configurations and competes only with the Ford Expedition EL in the extra-long full-size SUV segment. The 2010 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is powered by a whopping 310-horsepower, 5.3-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission plus auto-manual mode.

The 2010 GMC XL 2500 receives an even more powerful 352-horsepower, 6.0-liter flex-fuel V-8, and if that’s not enough, you can always opt for the 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter flex-fuel V-8. When properly equipped, the 2010 GMC Yukon XL 1500 can tow a truck-like 8,100 pounds, while the 2500 can haul up to 9,600 pounds. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings range between 12-15 mpg in the city and 17-20 mpg on the highway, which isn’t bad considering its size.

Measuring 20 inches longer than the Yukon, the 2010 Yukon XL 1500 offers three rows of seating for up to nine occupants. With the third row removed and power-folding second-row seats folded flat, maximum cargo volume is a generous 137.4 cubic feet, compared to the Ford Expedition EL’s 130.8 cubic feet. Inside, the steering wheel is wrapped in leather and XM Satellite Radio with real-time traffic reports is standard. Options include an integrated camera located in the rearview mirror, heated and cooled seats and a third-row DVD entertainment system. Exterior features include power heated side mirrors, an optional lift gate and power-operated retractable running boards. An integrated brake controller option provides proper brake force to a trailer in tow.

A suite of standard safety technologies helps keep occupants well protected. They include front dual-stage airbags with a passenger-sensing system, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, four-wheel antilock brakes and an electronic stability system with traction control. New options for 2010 include a blind spot warning system, rear parking assist and rain-sensing wipers.

The 2010 GMC Yukon XL 1500 extra-long, full-size SUV is fuel efficient for its size and offers unmatched cargo/passenger volume and plenty of standard safety technologies  keeping all nine occupants secure.
