2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid Overview
Whoever said that a fuel efficient full-size SUV would never work has never experienced the rugged, powerful and spacious 2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid. Boasting a 25 percent improvement in mileage, the Yukon Hybrid yields 20-21 mpg in the city and 20-22 mpg on the highway (the gas only Yukon gets 12-14/19-20 mpg city/highway). Sporting a two-mode hybrid system that blends a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 gasoline engine with Active Fuel Management and a 300-volt battery pack, the Sierra 1500 Hybrid generates a total of 332-horsepower. Cruise up to 30 mph on electricity alone, while the battery recharges itself off the friction generated from braking. The rear-wheel-drive Yukon Hybrid can tow up to 6,200 pounds and along with its twin, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, are two of the most fuel efficient SUVs around. Not only is the Yukon Hybrid totally efficient, but it features three rows of seats—enough for eight passengers. There is 16.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and 108.9 cubic feet of volume with both second and third row folded down. Along with a different center display screen that incorporates hybrid animation, the Yukon Hybrid features a remote vehicle starter system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-appointed seats, a Bose® nine-speaker audio system with dual-play CD/MP3/DVD player and a navigation system with rearview backup camera as standard equipment. The Yukon has a five-star frontal crash test rating from the NHTSA, making it one of the safest vehicles in the full-size SUV class. Dual front airbags and head-curtain side airbags for all rows are standard, with a rollover sensor for added protection. Also standard is the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, improving vehicle stability during emergency maneuvers. The standard anti-lock braking system helps to maintain control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking. An optional rearview-mirror-integrated camera system helps when backing up and is new for 2009. The Yukon Hybrid also comes with General Motor’s OnStar with one year subscription to Directions & Connections plan that provides voice-guided directions, automatic crash response and Bluetooth hands-free calling. Due to the immense interior space, robust towing power and improved fuel economy, taking the family on road trips is much easier with the 2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid.
