2009 GMC Sierra 3500HD Overview
The 2009 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a one of the strongest, most powerful one-ton trucks on the road. If you are looking for a powerful, refined and adult version of a pick-up truck, the Sierra 3500HD can satisfy your needs. Its four trim styles, three body types and two engine choices give buyers dozens of possibilities.
When building your truck, first pick the cab type. The Sierra 3500HD comes in a regular (133 inches), extended (157.5 inches) or crew (167 inches) cab. Next chose a trim style. The SLE and SLT trims are terrific for basic needs, and have luxury touches. The work truck trim comes with everything necessary for both hauling (5,309 pounds) and towing (9,700 pounds). Finally, when you are creating the perfect truck for your family, chose either a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine or a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine. The latter combined with the work truck trim can haul the most. Often compared to the Chevy Silverado 3500HD, the Sierra 3500HD is a few hundred dollars cheaper and has a more polished design.
The Sierra 3500 is a one-ton truck of safety. Each model comes with OnStar for in-vehicle assistance, daytime running lights and two-stage unlock door locks. Driver and front passenger airbags also come standard, and the passenger airbags are cancelable on demand. Add parking assist or a limited slip differential device for just a bit more.
Luxury options abound in the GMC Sierra 3500HD. Add a remote vehicle starting system, engine block heater, pick-up bed extender (in most trims) or a rear window defogger for just a few dollars more. While the 2009 version is virtually a carryover from the previous classic, the new model year debuts Bluetooth capability.
