2013 GMC Sierra 2500HD Overview
When a light-duty pickup isn’t enough, GMC offers a bigger solution for bigger jobs in the 2013 Sierra 2500HD.
The Sierra 2500HD is the middle-child in GMC’s consumer facing pickup truck lining, flanked by the smaller Sierra 1500 and the Sierra 3500HD. It comes with one of three available engines, the first being a 322-hp, gasoline 6.0-liter V-8. Up next is a flex-fuel, 360-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 that takes gas or E-85. Rounding out the engine options is a beefy, 397-hp, 6.6-liter V-8 diesel that makes 765 pounds-feet of torque. Combined with a 36 gallon fuel tank, diesel models can travel over 650 miles between fill-ups. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional.
Towing and payload figures are impressive. With a standard, conventional trailer hitch the 2013 Sierra 2500HD can tow up at 18,000 pounds, which expands to 23,000 pounds with a fifth-wheel hitch. Payload capacity checks in at 7,215 pounds. The Sierra 2500HD is offered in three cab styles (regular, extended, or cre-cab) with two bed lengths, which give it enough flexibility to fit whatever kind of job you will need it for.
Though a work truck by nature, the Sierra 2500HD also offers many creature comforts and amenities with optional heated and cooled front seats, a backup camera and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. A hard-drive-based navigation system with satellite radio and a USB port is also available.
