2010 GMC Sierra 1500 Overview
For low-priced, full-size pickup-trucking, the 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 offers one of the most formidable packages on the market.
Four engine options range from fuel efficient to outright beastly. A 195-horsepower, 4.3-liter V-6; a 305-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8; a 315-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8; and the unbeatable 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 are more than capable. These engines are mated to a four- or six-speed automatic transmission, where power is delivered to a two- or four-wheel drive system. Class-leading fuel economy ranges from 12-15 mpg in the city and 18-21 mpg on the highway. If you’re looking to go green, the hybrid Sierra model boasts improved fuel economy with pickup power. Maximum payload exceeds 1,900 pounds, and maximum towing capacity is 10,600 pounds. Those numbers make the Sierra very competitive with full-size pickups like the Nissan Titan, Dodge Ram, and Toyota Tundra.
In the 2010 GMC Sierra 1500’s bag of tricks are multiple cab configurations (regular, extended and crew cab), which allow seating for up to six people. Different bed lengths (six-foot-six and eight feet) allow you to balance overall length with optimum cargo volume. Different models (Work Truck, SL, SLE, XFE and SLT) allow you to balance desirable features with your budget. The base two-door Work Truck model offers options of remote power door locks, air conditioning, and cruise control, while a CD player and XM Satellite Radio come as standard equipment.
The SLE model offers options of a sunroof, navigation system and power front seats, while remote power door locks, cruise control and air conditioning are all standard. The fully loaded Denali model sports premium perforated leather seats with heating and cooling functions, dual zone climate control, leather and wood upholstery, rear parking sensors and an optional TV with video game connectivity.
A sturdy chassis, along with front and two-row head airbags delivers Five-Star front crash ratings in government testing. Traction and stability control systems, as well as four-wheel antilock brakes keep the driver in control and the 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 away from collisions.
