2010 GMC Savana 1500 Overview
Designed to haul people or cargo, the 2010 GMC Savana 1500 can be had as a passenger or cargo van in about a ton of different configurations.

The 2010 GMC Savana 1500 is available in G1500, G2500 and G3500 trim levels; quarter-ton, half-ton and one-ton weight classes; regular and long wheelbases; four van models (cargo, 15-seat passenger, conversion and cutaway) and rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations. In addition to the 195-horsepower, 4.3-liter V-6 and 250-horsepower, turbo-diesel 6.6-liter V-8 with a fast idle option, the GMC Savana 1500 gains three flex-fuel V-8 engine choices, including a 280-horsepower, 4.8-liter; 310-horsepower, 5.3-liter and 323-horsepower, 6.0-liter. Each engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with a new six-speed automatic transmission available on G2500 and G3500 models. Estimated EPA fuel economy ratings range between 10-15 mpg in the city and 12-20 mpg on the highway.

Facing competition from Dodge Sprinter and Ford E-Series, 2010 GMC Savana 1500 passenger vans come in regular (224 inches) and extended (244 inches) lengths. Regular-length passenger and cargo vans can be fitted with a 60/40-split left-side entry and loading door. Remote-release side access panels offer access to either side of the van and are available on work models. The 1500 rests atop standard 17-inch steel wheels, while the 2500 and 3500 sit on 16-inch steel wheels. A Chrome Appearance Package features front and rear chrome bumpers and grille with dual composite halogen headlamps.

Inside, the cavernous 2010 GMC Savana 1500 cargo van provides a whopping 225.1 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity for the regular length and 261.6 for extended-length models. Remote vehicle start is a new available feature for 2010, while air conditioning is standard. Power locks, a tilted steering wheel and cruise control are optional.

The 2010 GMC Savana 1500’s suite of standard safety technologies were upgraded in 2008 to include side curtain airbags for the first three rows and three-layer glass to help reduce the risk of ejection during an accident on passenger models. Additional standard safety features include driver and front-passenger airbags, all-disc antilock brakes and an electronic stability control system.

The 2010 GMC Savana 1500 passenger and cargo van either matches or exceeds the competition when it comes to interior volume, flex-fuel engine offerings and standard safety technologies.
