2014 GMC Savana 1500 Overview
- One of three GMC Cargo vans
- 1500 is the light-duty version of the three
- V-6 or V-8 engines are available
The 2014 GMC Savana 1500 is a flexible van option for those looking to carry people or cargo.
Offered in both passenger and cargo versions, the 1500 is part of GMC’s three-member lineup of vans along with the 2500 and 3500. The 1500 is the light-duty member of the trio, with the larger 2500 and 3500 making up the heavy-duty portion of the lineup.
Though the larger 2500/3500 are offered with extended wheelbases, the 1500 sticks with its 135-inch wheelbase. There are two engine options, a 195-hp, 4.3-liter V-6 that makes 260 pounds-feet of torque is the base engine on cargo models. Optional on the cargo but standard on the passenger is a more powerful, 310-hp, 5.3-liter Flex Fuel V-8 that makes 334 pounds-feet of torque. A 31-gallon fuel tank gives the 1500 plenty of range with either engine. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional.
For a light-duty van, the 1500 still offers plenty of payload capacity and towing. It can take up to 2,382 pounds of payload in the back and tows up to 6,700 pounds with the V-8 and rear-wheel drive. Inside the cargo, there is 239.7 cubic feet of cargo volume, which can be customized for different work applications or left open for maximum cargo space. Passenger versions seat up to eight passengers.
Safety features include four-wheel antilock disc brakes, three-row side curtain airbags in passenger vans, and an electronic stability system.
