GMC Envoy vs. HUMMER H3 SUV Review

Handling
The HUMMER and the GMC have about similar tires. With their comparable turning radii, the GMC Envoy and the HUMMER definitely handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The HUMMER H3's engine is a bit smaller than the GMC Envoy's, but not terribly so. The HUMMER H3 could learn a lesson or two from the GMC Envoy when it comes to pickup. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the GMC Envoy is significantly more powerful than the HUMMER H3.

Utility
The GMC Envoy's bigger trunk will accommodate more massive things than the HUMMER H3. The Envoy and the HUMMER H3 can accommodate the same number of passengers. There's no clear winner between the GMC Envoy and the HUMMER H3 with respect to transporting cargo. The GMC Envoy outpulls the HUMMER H3 by a large margin.

Convenience
The HUMMER H3's fuel tank will need to be replenished a little more often than the unit in the GMC Envoy.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the H3 offers a bit more head room than the GMC Envoy, there honestly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the GMC Envoy provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the HUMMER, there honestly isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The H3 is slightly heavier than the GMC Envoy. The Envoy's tank is approximately the same size as the HUMMER H3's, though the HUMMER H3's is a little bigger. The HUMMER H3 rides lower than the GMC Envoy, which is a good thing for its center of gravity and ease of access. The HUMMER H3 and the GMC compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The HUMMER H3 is substantially cheaper to get to the dealership than the GMC Envoy. As far as fuel economy, the GMC Envoy is a bit better than the HUMMER H3, but not by much. As far as MSRP, the HUMMER H3 doesn't cost much less than the GMC Envoy.

Overview
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the GMC Envoy isn't quite as generous as the HUMMER H3's. In terms of warranty against corrosion, the Envoy and the HUMMER have the same coverage.

Other
The GMC Envoy produces fewer smog-forming pollutants per 15,000 miles than the HUMMER H3.
