GMC Canyon vs. Mitsubishi Raider Review

Utility
There's no obvious winner between the Mitsubishi and the GMC Canyon as far as transporting cargo. The GMC Canyon and the Raider can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Mitsubishi is likely a better choice than the GMC Canyon when it comes to hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of gear or big dogs. Towing is significantly more the GMC Canyon's forte than it is the Raider's.

Performance
In terms of horsepower, the GMC packs quite a wallop and will knock the Mitsubishi Raider down a few rungs. On the other hand, remember that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums. With that kind of horsepower, the GMC Canyon is a true speedster.

Dimensions
The Mitsubishi Raider is substantially more bulky than the GMC. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Mitsubishi Raider than the GMC Canyon because of its bigger tank. The GMC Canyon and the Mitsubishi Raider compete for the same parking spaces. The GMC Canyon's shorter wheelbase will likely give a nimbler feel in daily traffic. However, the Mitsubishi Raider is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Convenience
You most definitely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Raider than with the GMC Canyon, as both offer similar mileage ranges.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Mitsubishi Raider to the dealership as the GMC Canyon. The Mitsubishi requires a lot of gas compared to the GMC Canyon. As far as gas mileage, the GMC Canyon has the Mitsubishi Raider beat. The GMC Canyon isn't much less expensive than the Mitsubishi Raider when it comes to MSRP.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the GMC Canyon is quite certainly nimbler than the Raider, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, remember that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Mitsubishi Raider's engine is considerably more massive than the GMC Canyon's. Remember that more sizeable engines may use more gas than smaller ones. The GMC Canyon could learn a lesson or two from the Mitsubishi as far as pickup. Torque equals pickup, and the Mitsubishi Raider will have picked up and gone by the time the GMC Canyon finally gets moving.

Comfort
The Mitsubishi Raider offers more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the GMC Canyon does.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the GMC Canyon isn't quite as generous as the Mitsubishi Raider's.
