Performance
The Acadia and Envoy are neck-and-neck in terms of power.  The Acadia has a 288-horsepower V-6 compared to the Envoy’s 285-hp I-6 and 300-hp V-8.  The Envoy’s V-8 offers more torque (acceleration), while the Acadia features intelligent all-wheel drive that distributes power to different axels when needed.

Utility
If you have a boat, trailer or other large toys, the Envoy is able to tow up to 6,600 pounds compared to the Acadia’s 5,200 pounds.  However, if you have a large family or you are transporting people on a regular basis, the Acadia seats up to eight passengers compared to the Envoy, which can only seat five.  The Acadia also boasts more cargo volume any way you slice it with 116.9 cubic feet of volume when the second and third rows of seats are folded compared to 80.1 cubic feet for the Envoy.

Fuel Economy/The Green Effect
If you wish to pay less at the pump, the Acadia can help with 16-17 mpg in the city and 23/24 mpg on the highway.  Compared to the Envoy’s 14-15/20-21 mpg city/highway, the Acadia proves to be more efficient.  The Acadia also provides less strain on the environment by emitting 9.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide compared to 10.8-11.4 metric tons for the Envoy.

Technology

Both have General Motor’s OnStar service, which comes standard and includes: Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Vehicle Diagnostics, Remote Door Unlock, Hands-Free Calling, Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance, Roadside Assistance and RideAssist.  Both also have an available Bose® Sound System and 6-disc CD changer can be combined with an optional rear seat DVD player and available XM® Satellite Radio for the ultimate entertainment system.  Bluetooth connectivity and touch-screen navigation are also available.  The Acadia has XM NavTraffic and a Dual Skyscape™ sunroof.

Safety
The Acadia and Envoy feature General Motor’s OnStar service Includes automatic crash notification, automatic notification of air bag deployment, stolen vehicle location assistance, a link to all emergency services, roadside assistance, remote door unlock, OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, remote horn and lights.  The Acadia has the upper-hand when it comes to safety ratings.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), the Acadia has a five-star crash rating for four different tests and a four-star rollover rating in two tests.  The Envoy has a three-star, four-star and two five-star crash ratings and a three and four-star rollover rating.
