Drivers with frequent kid-duty might favor the Acadia over the Flex.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the GMC than the Flex because of its larger tank. The Acadia and the Flex compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You'll most certainly have to take the Ford Flex for a fill-up more often than the GMC Acadia because of its tank size and gas mileage.

Cost
The GMC Acadia won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Flex. The Ford Flex won't tax your gasoline budget substantially more than the GMC Acadia will. The Ford Flex isn't much less expensive than the GMC in terms of MSRP.

Handling
With their comparable turning circles, the Acadia and the Ford Flex most definitely handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.

The Flex's engine is a bit smaller than the Acadia's, but not terribly so.
