2010 Ford Transit Connect Overview

Responding to a need for fuel efficient cars, Ford is introducing a European model to the American market. Ford hopes that the 2010 Transit Connect strikes a chord with small business owners who need an efficient way to transport their goods.

The Transit Connect is a light-duty van that is easily maneuverable, fuel efficient and spacious enough to handle loads of cargo. The Transit Connect has a 2.0-liter, 138-horsepower I-4 engine and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Although the Transit Connect won’t win any races, it will definitely save you money at the pump with 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

The Transit Connect performs its intended functions well. It boasts 135 cubic feet of cargo capacity and has 6.5 feet of cargo length and 4.7 feet of width. The Transit Connect is 6 feet, 6 inches tall, yet small enough to fit in most parking spaces. Second-row dual sliding doors with Privacy Glass, standard 180-degree rear bam door hinge with an optional 255 degree hinge, and two-front power point plugs are just a few of the utility-friendly features.

What sets the Transit Connect apart from most other vans is that it is incredibly versatile. It may be equipped with a rear pullout shelving system, which appeals to technical services, floral delivery, mobile electronics, catering and much more. The steel storage system features lockable drawers and convenient shelving for your mobile business. A parcel interior package is designed to maximize the storage area and is designed and installed by Leggett & Platt CVP. But what if you just wanted to haul around passengers? The Transit Connect has a second row of seats to accomodate up to 5 passengers, and still offers plenty of cargo room in the back.

The innovative Ford Work Solutions™ suite include an in-dash computer running Microsoft® Windows® for automotive, CrewChief™ telematics, Tool Link™ from DeWALT® and Cable Lock™ by Master Lock® to help business owners, contractors and fleet owners work more productively. An AM/FM tuner with CD player and optional audio jack keep the tunes rocking, while driver and front passenger airbags, side-impact airbags, ABS, Roll Stability Control, collapsible steering column and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System are just some of the safety features.

Ford is hoping that the 2010 Transit Connect connects with those merchants, caterers and other independent business owners who appreciate an well-designed workspace and efficient fuel economy.
