Ford Ranger Review
2010 Ford Ranger
Price Range: $16,395 - $25,805

Performance
Regarding horsepower, the average truck packs quite a punch and will knock the Ford Ranger down a few rungs. On the other hand, bear in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Ranger is most certainly sprier than the average truck, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, remember that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The typical truck has a more massive engine than the Ford Ranger. Remember that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but smaller engines can be stressed more. The Ranger could learn a lesson or two from the typical truck as far as pickup. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the average truck is tremendously more powerful than the Ford Ranger.

Utility
The average truck's more sizeable trunk will accommodate more massive objects than the Ranger. Neither the Ford Ranger nor the average truck has a marked advantage in terms of seating capacity. The average truck is a better choice than the Ford Ranger when it comes to transporting cargo, especially if you often need to carry a lot of suitcases or large animals. The average truck outpulls the Ford Ranger by a massive margin.

Convenience
The Ford Ranger's fuel tank will need to be replenished more often than the unit in the typical truck.

Comfort
Taller drivers will significantly enjoy the extra head room in the typical truck's front cabin compared to the Ford Ranger. The average truck is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Ford Ranger.

Dimensions
The average truck is significantly more bulky than the Ford Ranger. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the average truck than the Ranger because of its larger tank. The Ford Ranger fits in smaller parking spaces than the average truck. The Ranger's shorter wheelbase will likely give a more agile feel in daily traffic. On the flip side, the average truck is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Ford Ranger is significantly cheaper to get to the dealership than the average truck. The Ford Ranger doesn't pale in comparison to the average truck with respect to gas mileage. Regarding gas mileage, the Ford Ranger is a tad better than the average truck, but not by much. With respect to MSRP, the Ford Ranger costs considerably less than the typical truck.

Warranty
Although the basic warranty that comes with the average truck is somewhat longer than the Ranger's, the difference isn't too marked.
