2009 Ford Fusion Overview
Just as the name suggests, the 2009 Ford Fusion blends innovative technology, American design and impressive fuel economy giving all other midsize sedans a run for their money.

Available in three trim levels – S, SE, and SEL – the Fusion features a choice of economical and semi-powerful engines. The S comes with a 2.3-liter, 160-horsepower engine with a crisp 5-speed manual transmission or smooth-shifting 5-speed automatic. The SE and SEL are available in 3.0-liter, 221-horsepower V6 engines with 6-speed automatic transmissions.  All models have standard front-wheel drive and traction control, while V6 models offer optional all-wheel drive for superior traction and handling.

The only drawback to the Fusion is the power-to-fuel economy ratio.  The S gets the best mileage with 20 MPG city and 29 MPG highway, while the V6 SE and SEL get 18/26 for 4WD and 17/25 for AWD.  The Fusion is up against the Chevy Malibu, Honda Accord, Mazda 6 and Nissan Altima.  Most of those get similar fuel economy with a few more horses under the hood.

The S comes equipped with 16-inch wheels, 60/40-split rear seats and a four-speaker stereo with CD player and auxiliary audio jack. The SE adds six-way power driver seats, upgraded interior, a trip computer and a six-speaker stereo with an in-dash six-CD changer and six-month subscription to SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

The SEL comes equipped with 17-inch wheels, keyless entry pad, automatic climate control, multicolor ambient lighting and the SYNC™ Communications and Entertainment System. Use voice commands to access your music collection by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth®.  The optional voice-activated DVD-based navigation system has a 6.5” color LCD monitor, turn-by-turn directions, and comprehensive maps and menus.

Standard 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes prevent wheel lockup and shorten stopping distances. Six airbags come standard and the new Reverse Sensing System uses ultrasonic waves to help you parallel park in tight spaces.

Abundant options, high-tech features and impressive fuel economy make the 2009 Ford Fusion a player in the midsize sedan market.
