2014 Ford Focus ST Overview
- Performance version of the Focus
- Only offered as a hatchback
- 252-hp, turbocharged four-cylinder engine
With more power, a better suspension, and more aggressive styling, the 2014 Ford Focus ST takes the Focus compact hatchback to the next level.
The Focus ST, along with other hot hatches like the Volkswagen GTI and the Mazdaspeed3, represent some of the best performance per dollar values on the market today. It’s easy to pick out the Focus ST from its tamer sibling, thanks to unique styling cues like a honeycomb front grille, rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, and more aggressive lower body work.
Under the hood, the Focus ST offers more power with a 252-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 270 pounds-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is the only transmission option. The Focus ST combats the torque steer found in many powerful front-wheel drive performance cars with a torque vectoring system that can adjust the speed between each of the front wheels for better cornering and agility.
Inside, air conditioning, push-button start, cruise control, Ford’s SYNC communications system, Bluetooth connectivity, and power windows/locks come standard. A pair of Recaro bucket seats is optional; they offer extra bolstering and keep you firmly in the seat during aggressive driving maneuvers. Also available are navigation, MyFord touch, and automatic climate control.
The Focus ST got a full five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA. Standard safety features include all-disc antilock brakes, six airbags, and an electronic stability system.
