2010 Ford F-250 Overview
From America’s truck leader comes something surprising: a truck more capable than the Ford F-150. The 2010 Ford F-250 is a super pickup, capable of hauling even more gargantuan loads than its big-little brother.
Behind the bold grille of the 2010 Ford F-250 is Ford’s 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8, which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission or an optional five-speed auto. This powertrain yields a base tow rating of 12,500 pounds, and a payload of 2,860 pounds. For more serious payloads, there are a 362-horsepower, 6.8-liter V-10 and a 350-horsepower, 6.4-liter diesel-fueled V-8. Depending on configurations, payload can be raised over 3,000 pounds, and the tow rating can reach 16,900 pounds when the fifth-wheel goose-neck is installed.
The basic two-door F-250 comes with vinyl seats for three people, a trailer hitch and wiring, and a radio. Goodies like a CD player and navigation system are optional. On the XLT, functional features like a running board and bed extender are optional, but cruise control and the CD player are standard. In the top-end Lariat model, leather-covered power front seats and steering wheel come standard. There is also an available interior and exterior appearance package developed in partnership with outdoor outfitter Cabela’s.
The functionality of the F-250 is enhanced with Ford’s SYNC® multimedia system, with Traffic, Directions and Information. Ford Work Solutions™ is based around an in-dash computer with high-speed internet and wireless accessories. Among the Work Solutions™ electronic tools is Tool Link™, a Radio-Frequency ID system which allows you to keep track of all the tools and equipment that are stored in the vehicle. The Cable Lock system provides security for tools stored in the truck, and the Crew Chief™ system allows you to perform powertrain diagnostics on vehicles within your fleet. No truck or any other vehicle in this market can compete with this level of functionality.
There are no crash test ratings available for the 2010 Ford F-250. That is because NHTSA could not find a wall strong enough to cause any damage to this big brute…ok, not really. This industrial-grade pickup does offer a fully boxed frame ready for collision with any vehicle on the road, and four-wheel antilock brakes help ensure you don’t need to find out how strong this truck is. Standard front airbags protect the driver and front passenger.
If Captain Hammer had an official vehicle, it would be a Ford F-150. If there was a Captain Anvil, and he had an official vehicle, it would be the Ford F-250.
