Ford Explorer Sport Trac vs. HUMMER H3T Review

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac is most certainly more maneuverable than the HUMMER H3T, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The HUMMER H3T's engine is a tad smaller than the Explorer Sport Trac's, but not terribly so. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac isn't much more powerful than the HUMMER H3T. The HUMMER H3T has no lessons to learn regarding torque from the Explorer Sport Trac.

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Ford Explorer Sport Trac and the HUMMER H3T regarding hauling capacity. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac and the HUMMER H3T can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is likely a better choice than the HUMMER H3T as far as transporting cargo, especially if you often need to carry a lot of loot or pets. Towing is considerably more the Ford Explorer Sport Trac's forte than it is the H3T's.

Convenience
The Explorer Sport Trac's fuel tank will need to be replenished a bit more often than the unit in the HUMMER.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the HUMMER H3T offers a bit more head room than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the HUMMER H3T.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the HUMMER H3T than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac because of its larger tank. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac and the HUMMER compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the HUMMER H3T to the dealership as the Ford Explorer Sport Trac. There frankly isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Ford is somewhat more economical than the HUMMER. Producing an exact fuel economy evaluation is so hard that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Explorer Sport Trac is the winner with respect to fuel economy. When it comes to MSRP, the HUMMER H3T costs about as much as the Ford Explorer Sport Trac (though the Ford Explorer Sport Trac is slightly cheaper).

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Explorer Sport Trac isn't quite as generous as the H3T's.
