Ford Explorer Sport Trac vs. Honda Ridgeline Review

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac is most certainly nimbler than the Honda Ridgeline, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, remember that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Honda Ridgeline's engine is considerably smaller than the Explorer Sport Trac's. Note that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; however, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. The Honda Ridgeline has no lessons to learn in terms of pickup from the Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Explorer Sport Trac isn't much more powerful than the Honda.

Utility
Neither the Ford Explorer Sport Trac nor the Ridgeline has a marked advantage regarding seating capacity. There's no clear winner between the Honda Ridgeline and the Ford Explorer Sport Trac when it comes to hauling capacity. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac outpulls the Honda Ridgeline by a massive margin.

Convenience
You'll quite certainly take the Explorer Sport Trac for a fill-up roughly as often as the Ridgeline.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Honda offers a bit more head room than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Honda Ridgeline is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

Dimensions
The Honda Ridgeline's tank is approximately the same size as the Explorer Sport Trac's, though the Ford Explorer Sport Trac's is a little bigger. The Honda Ridgeline and the Ford Explorer Sport Trac compete for the same parking spaces. The Honda's shorter wheelbase will give a nimbler feel in daily traffic. On the flip side, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Ridgeline is significantly cheaper to get to the dealership than the Explorer Sport Trac. Producing a precise fuel economy evaluation is so hard that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the Honda and the Honda perform roughly similarly in terms of fuel economy. The Honda Ridgeline doesn't pale in comparison to the Ford regarding gas mileage. The Honda Ridgeline isn't much less expensive than the Ford with respect to MSRP.

Warranty
The Honda Ridgeline and the Ford Explorer Sport Trac have the same basic after-sale protection.
