2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Overview
Boasting ample power, amazing versatility, and innovative styling, the 2008 Ford Sport Trac is an SUV/pickup crossover vehicle that is aimed at extreme athletes or weekend warriors who wish they were. The Sport Trac is available in two trim levels – the well-rounded XLT and the bombastic Limited. The standard 4.0 liter V6 engine is offered with a 5-speed automatic transmission delivering 210 horsepower for smooth, solid acceleration and pulling power. For serious adventures and trail running, the optional 4.6 liter V8 engine cranks out 292 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque for awesome thrust and hill-climbing power. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, it offers responsive low-end acceleration that makes towing a breeze. Maximum towing capacity is a robust 7,160 lbs. with the V8 engine in 4x2 models, allowing you to easily take all your toys to the next adventure. Available in 2-wheel drive or more capable 4-wheel drive, the Sport Trac can handle a variety of road and weather conditions with ease. The versatile rear cargo bed features a cargo box with 3 integrated storage compartments for ultimate flexibility. In addition, the optional cargo cage Bed Extender allows an extra six cubic feet of storage. The optional, lockable hard tonneau cover offers all-weather protection for the contents of the cargo bed. Inside, the new SYNC voice-activated hands-free communications and entertainment system provides hands-free calling and digital music capability. A well-rounded safety package features dual front airbags, dual front-seat side airbags, and Safety Canopy™ side curtain airbags with rollover protection to keep front and second-row passengers protected in a collision. Standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control keeps the Sport Trac composed and stable during emergency maneuvers and mitigates any potential rollovers. Standard 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes stop the vehicle with authority and help to prevent wheel lockup under hard braking. The standard tire pressure monitoring system alerts the driver to any significant drops in tire pressure. Innovative cargo options, off-road tenacity, and new SYNC technology make the 2008 Ford Sport Trac the ultimate road warrior for a slew of rugged adventures. |
